EVER dreamt of putting on your favourite disco suit, putting on a Bee Gees record and busting out a John Travolta-inspired move on the iconic dance floor from 'Saturday Night Fever'?

Well now you can … to the tune of $2 million.

The film's "legendary dance floor", which launched Travolta's career into superstardom, will go up for auction next month after its owner decided it was time to "share it with the world".

Vito Bruno said he bought the floor when he learnt the club, where the famous film was shot, was being shut down.

"I received a call from a friend telling me that the club … were auctioning off the contents including the legendary dance floor, so I bought it," Bruno said according to Reuters.

"I have had the dance floor for a few years now. It's one of the most recognizable pieces of film memorabilia in history, but I've decided it's time to share it with the world."

The floor, custom built for the 1977 movie, measures seven metres by five metres and housed more than 250 separate light compartments which lit up in rhythm to the music.

It will go up for auction at the Profiles in History Hollywood Auction in Los Angeles from June 26-28.
