Rural women converge on South Burnett
More than 130 women gathered in the Kingaroy Town Hall for the first of the QRRRWN Conference.
Women travelled from places like Quilpie, Charters Towers, Longreach and Charleville to Kingaroy for the Queensland Rural Regional and Remote Women's Network 25th anniversary conference.
State president Melissa Barnett said it was a big achievement for the group to reach this commemoration.
"It's something rural women need, to connect these women and develop their education,” she said.
The conference included inspiring key note speakers and giving women, some of whom live in isolation rurally, an opportunity to connect with others.
"They are completely immersed with 140 other women and get their womankind fix.”
They focused on personal development, nurturing, growth, business developments and an opportunity to connect with mentors.
"They are doing amazing things in their own patch, but they don't necessarily have people supporting them regularly,” she said.
The conference is not only for members, but those women living in the host region, the South Burnett, are encourage to come along.
"It's a fabulous opportunity for local women to access what we have here, and encourage any local women to involve themselves,” Ms Barnett.
The conference started on Thursday afternoon and will run until Saturday September 15 at the Kingaroy Town Hall with guest speakers and workshops.
