Rower arrested for alleged vandallism

AUSTRALIAN rower Joshua Booth has been arrested by British police for allegedly damaging a shopfront in the early hours of Thursday morning local time.

It is believed Booth, who was a member of the men's eight crew that finished sixth in the final earlier on Day Five, was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Booth was detained in a police station, where he fainted and hit his head, leading to him being taking to hospital as a precaution.

Australia's Chef de Mission, Nick Green, discussed the incident in his Day Six morning press briefing.

"About 3:30 in the morning I heard (of) an unfortunate incident with one of our rowers," Green said.
