RoboKings off to take on the world in Houston

A GROUP of teenagers from Chancellor State College are making a name for themselves in robotics and taking on some powerhouse tech names.

The team of Avery Brown, Harry Lythgo, Caleb Mallyon and Declan Baericke yesterday touched down in the US to competed at the First Tech Challenge World Championships.

The competition sees the Coast boys come up against teams backed by major tech companies such as Google, Tesla and Microsoft.

College robotics teacher Simon Richardson said after winning the national championships in December the team has worked hard to create an extremely competitive robot.

"Their robot is the fastest in Australia by a long way, they are easily top 10 at worlds I think,” he said.

"For a state college from the Coast to be this competitive is great.”

The teams starts competition on April 18.
