Robert reckons this Cat is a great truck
"YOU caught me on my way from Hobart to Launceston and Devonport,” Robert Purcell from Elizabethtown told us the other day when we caught up with him grabbing a refreshment break at the Epping Forest Caltex.
"And then home, having left this morning, and then I'll run down to Moriarty and Hobart, and then I'm looking forward to knocking off for the day.”
He was driving a Ryan's Transport 2010 Cat with 550Hp up front and towing a tautliner at the time.
"I've been here for five months now, and reckon it's a great job. They're a top outfit to work for and they are keeping me busy as well,” he said.
"I also really like the Cat. It's a nice truck all round, comfortable and powerful enough when it's needed.
"I started driving trucks when I was 17, and that's mainly been my life since.
"I even did a stint driving for the prison in Port Augusta in South Australia, which was handy as I am originally from Port Augusta.”
He and his wife Roni decided to move to Tasmania last October looking for a quieter and more temperate life.
"And we are very happy with the move, and both love being in Tasmania too,” he said.
"It is all we had hoped for. At the moment we are both pretty busy doing house renovations, but when we can we both enjoy camping.”
