Roadworks, jack-knife cause mayhem in Toowoomba city
TRAFFIC is being diverted on West St after a truck was forced to jack-knife.
The power shaft in a Mansell haulage truck broke at about 8.30am, near the Fiveways Hotel in North Toowoomba.
The driver then put the truck into a jack-knife maneuver to prevent it from rolling, a police spokesman said.
The truck was fully loaded with sand, and police commended the driver on his actions which prevented a disaster, the spokesman said.
Cars was also backed up in other areas of Toowoomba, as resurfacing works on James St playing havoc with peak-hour commuters.
Traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction around Neil St.
