Reunion on for W&M Transport

CALLING all past W&M Transport employees, Stewart Walker has organised a reunion.

Mr Walker said there were hundreds of W&M employees over the years before the company was bought out.

"It was the biggest refrigeration transport company in Queensland," he said.

W&M Transport closed in 2002, after 46 years in business.

This will be the third reunion and Mr Walker hopes to see more faces this time around.

He drove trucks for the company between 1976 and 1987.

"We used to do a lot of local work out of meat works in Cannon Hill and local abattoirs, carting to everywhere in Australia," he said.

"This reunion is important to meet up with all the old workers."

W&M Transport workers had long-range radios and kept each other company via the radio.

"We could talk to each other all over Australia," Mr Walker said.

"Hundreds worked for W&M Transport and subbies. We'd like to see them and anyone that had anything to do with the company."

The W&M reunion will be held at the Acacia Ridge Hotel, November 24 at 10.30am.
