Residents wake to their televisions 'not working'

IF you woke to a television that had no channels this morning you weren't alone.

The Daily Mercury's Facebook page was swamped with posts from about midnight asking why their television wasn't working.

"No digital tv signal in Blacks Beach," Samantha Creese said.

"Anyone else having this problem?"

Anahera Russell also posted saying "What's the go with the TV reception?"

ABC, 7QLD and WIN in Mackay and surrounds will have changed frequencies overnight.

Areas affected include Nebo, Paget, Eimeo, Glenella, Walkerston, Eton, Finch Hatton, Conway and parts of Proserpine and Sarina.

In Nebo, all channels have changed frequencies.

These moves will free up broadcasting spectrum so it can be used for new services such as mobile broadband.

Once the channels have moved, viewers will need to retune their digital TV, set-top box or digital TV recorder to get them back.
