Relationships should be respectful

Being within the vicinity of a public domestic is the worst. You don't know where to look as the car crash unfurls swiftly with each expletive and angry word.

It makes me sad that people who are supposed to love each other speak with such venom-spiked words.

Why do people tolerate such behaviour from their partner? With such behaviour more noticeably present than ever before it makes me wonder whether respect is no longer valued or deemed as the cornerstone of a relationship as it once was?

Maybe I'm just an idealistic romantic, but I long for more public displays of kindness, consideration and respect.
