Letters: Gender pay gap, close it yourself
Letters: PAMELA Frost, on pay gaps for women, has certainly set the baits for politicians and the ever-faithful legion of "banner wavers and procrastinating activists" demanding action for equal pay.
Elsie Stephenson laid out a financial document highlighting the differences in pay packets between men and women but did not detail a full disclosure of "those wages base award rates and wages derived from individual contracts" being the starting point.
I was mortified that the article gave the reason why women do not get the same wages as men being "just because we don't ask doesn't mean we shouldn't be paid equally" and "men have a responsibility to join the fight" is nonsense.
I ask, "just where were the women when the men fought for their pay rises".
That argument is complete nonsense.
The truth, as far as pay rates and all other articles of life, is "the answer is always no unless you ask".
So how about everybody get off the blame game merry-go-round in Bundaberg and as our Prime Minister Tony Abbot and Treasurer Joe Hockey have stated so abundantly, "have a go" yourself and stop wanting others to do the hard yards for you.
