Record hay run for Queensland's drought-hit farmers

WITH 119 trucks and even more trailers the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners convoy to drought stricken Queensland has got to be a record.

The convoy is said to stretch some 66km long and couldn't have happened without organiser Brendan Farrel, generous truckies donating their time, trucks and trailers, farmers donating hay and others chipping in to pay for fuel and donating hampers. (Story continues after gallery.)

Last night the trucks stopped over at Barringun roadhouse for a concert where Jayne Denham performed.

Now they're on the road, lunch will be at Blackall and then they'll reach the final destination at Ilfracombe.

Jayne agreed to be a Big Rigs roving reporter while she's on the convoy and has managed to catch a chopper ride to show off the number of trucks that parked up overnight last night.
