Rebel wants her own musical

REBEL Wilson wants to star in her own West End musical in London.

The 35-year-old Australian comedic star has always had the ambition to tread the boards in the famous theatre district of the UK capital but she doesn't want to appear in a pre-existing production.

Instead Rebel - who began her career on the stage - wants to write her own show but she fears it could take her years to come up with something good.

Speaking at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards at One Mayfair in London on Wednesday evening (02.12.15), she said: "I'd love to do the West End, but you want to originate a role to really make an impact. I mean if I just came in and did 'Wicked' or something, it wouldn't be that exciting. So, I'm always looking.

"I'd love to write an original musical but it can take a long time. 'Hamilton', that's on Broadway right now, took six years and it's a work of genius, so it would probably take me like 20 years! But I should get started because it would be awesome."

Rebel's West End dream was further fuelled by her friend and former roommate in Los Angeles Matt Lucas who has appeared in theatre shows.

The 'Pitch Perfect' star - who was named Ultimate Woman at the awards show - added: "My former housemate Matt has performed on the West End and I've heard it's such a great community."

Other winners on the night included Little Mix, who took home the Ultimate Girl Group gong, and Jess Glynne who was named Ultimate Solo Artist.
