Seminar to bring together Mackay's real housewives

BEING a Real Housewife might look glamorous on TV but inside the life of a real Mackay wife you'll find feelings of loneliness and disconnection.

Blacks Beach woman Calley Morrison has organised The Real Miners Wives Seminar to bring together women who juggle careers, kids, cooking, cleaning, laundry and pets while their husbands and partners work away at mines.

A real miner's wife herself, Ms Morrison said issues she experienced were similar to other women in Mackay and she wanted to create a seminar to cover issues to help support women.

She said the seminar would deal with issues such as loneliness, isolation, infidelity, unhealthy lifestyles, bad spending habits, disconnection from your man and having no goals or dreams.

"Being on your own approximately six months a year ... not only stresses a person but can make you feel very overwhelmed very quickly," she said.

"I want to help the wives feel understood, supported, and give them some advice and strategies to help make their families and relationships just that little bit more balanced and fulfilled."

The seminar will be held tonight and next Wednesday from 6.30-8.30pm at Ocean International Hotel. Cost is $50 a person. Phone Ms Morrison on 0416 350 489.
