Ray finds love online
ROCKHAMPTON cop Ray Carrick came across a con-artist, was told lies and fell in love with a woman who couldn’t move to Australia.
But chatting online finally took the 54-year-old across the world to meet the woman who became his wife.
Ray has been dating online for the past couple of years since being divorced.
He didn’t have much luck with the first few women, travelling over to China twice before finally meeting and marrying his new wife Zhou Fhi (Australian name Queenie) a few weeks ago.
The scenes of crime officer said he had trouble finding the right Aussie woman.
“I feel a lot younger and with two children I found it hard meeting younger Australian woman,” Ray said.
Ray’s first trip to China was in 2008 after meeting and developing a relationship with a Chinese woman through a China love online dating website.
“She told me a lot of lies, and had photos 10 or 15 years younger than she was,” Ray said.
After retuning home, Ray decided to give online dating another go.
The next woman he met was lovely and Ray fell for her.
But when he went over to China meet her in person, she ended up having troubles getting her children out of the country.
He said the third woman he met online appeared to be a con-artist.
“I never met her, but we chatted online for about five months.”
But finally he struck it lucky.
The father of two heard about how a friend of a friend had met his Chinese wife through chatting on instant chat messenger service, msn.
“Queenie and I chatted on msn and spoke on Skype (video internet chat program) nearly every night for three months before I went over a few weeks ago,” Ray said.
After spending 10 solid days together with Queenie, 34, checking out the sites and culture of China, the pair got married.
“Queenie has her own apartment, a good job and family over in China, so the decision to leave her life and move over to Australia with her five-year-old daughter has been tough,” Ray said.
He said their strong love for one another helped them to make the decision to start a life together.
Ray is hoping Queenie will secure her VISA and be able to live in Australia within the next six months.
“We have an exciting challenge ahead of us to combine our cultures and families.”
