IT'S AMAZING what a little bit of kindness can do to warm the soul.

After a bad start to 2016 when a flatmate skipped town leaving him thousands of dollars in debt, Kirra resident Brad Nielson will end the year on a high note after a random act of kindness by a stranger.

Last Tuesday, Mr Nielson found an envelope beneath his windscreen wipers, bearing a note and $5.

The note read: "Hello from a stranger! If you've been waiting for a sign, this is it! Have a wonderful Christmas! :-).”

Mr Nielson said he was blown away by the gesture.

"It is awesome,” he Nielson said.

"I felt kind of a bit weird at first and looked around to see if there was someone around,” he said.

"For me it was quite refreshing. It was absolutely beautiful, so nice that someone would do that.”

"And is is unlikely someone would do that only once, I would be thinking someone has scattered others around too.”

Mr Nielson has decided to keep the kindness going, and will donate the $5 - along with funds donated by friends - to someone in more need in the Tweed.
