Rallying for a special donation

IT WASN'T just French driver Sébastien Ogier who was left smiling after the weekend's World Rally Championships in Coffs Harbour.

Coffs Harbour Hospital has been given a $5275 donation towards vital medical equipment, thanks to funds raised from a special shuttle service during the four-day event.

The Hyundai Tuscon Trail shuttle service was organised by Rally Australia and Hyundai to transport spectators between Coffs Central Mall and the WRC Service Park.

Donations from passengers will now enable the hospital to purchase a Connex Vital Signs Monitor for the pediatric and adolescent ward.

Rally Australia chairman Ben Rainsford and Hyundai Coffs Harbour owner Warren Skinner presented the cheque to hospital staff on Monday.

"Fifteen dollars from every trip offered from members of the public went towards Rally Australia's Humpty Dumpty fund to purchase this unit," Mr Rainsford said.

"Children and families will benefit from the purchase of this equipment and the generosity of the community.

"This is a very nice conclusion for Rally Australia - to be able to provide something very meaningful to the community and recognise the support they've shown towards the event."

The Connex Vital Signs Monitor is an advanced touch-screen monitor that helps clinicians improve patient safety and the time it takes for vitals capture.
