Putting body image on agenda

POSITIVE body image is a hot topic and a concerning one as women, young and old, struggle to feel good about themselves on a daily basis.

Which is why locals Narelle Finn and Jane Cutler have volunteered to host a screening of the life-changing documentary Embrace in Bundaberg on Wednesday, November 2 at 7pm at the Moncrieff Theatre.

Embrace uncovers why poor body image has become a global epidemic and what women everywhere can do to have a brighter future.

When body image activist Taryn Brumfitt posted an unconventional before-and-after photograph in 2013, it was seen by more than 100 million worldwide and sparked an international media frenzy.

In her forceful debut, Brumfitt continues her crusade exploring the issue of body loathing. She travels the world to interview an impressive range of women about their attitudes to their bodies, including Mia Freedman; Adelaide researcher Professor Marika Tiggemann; UK talk show host/photographer Amanda de Cadenet; body image blogger Jess Baker (aka The Militant Baker); and motivational speaker Turia Pitt.

"We believe this film is a must-see for all women and we would love your support. We plan on making this event a great night out that has everyone leaving feeling empowered and beautiful,” Narelle said.

"We are so excited to be a part of bringing this film to Bundaberg and we think it has the ability to change women's lives in a positive and meaningful way.”

The screening is arranged through www.fan-force.com and to confirm the screening the women need to sell 95 tickets before September 26.

They have volunteered to raise awareness of this film and are currently relying heavily on social media to gain an audience. Local businesses have also gotten on board, donating prizes and vouchers to ensure that it is an inspiring, fun and memorable night out.

Get on board and buy a ticket to get this topic out in the open. Visit their Facebook page: Bundaberg has Embraced - Embrace Documentary Screening for more.
