Puppet masters have new tricks at hand

One of Australia's greatest theatrical exports is returning to Mackay with a brand new show.

Two men, Rich Binning and Barry Brisco, along with the stellar cast direct from Las Vegas, will "manipulate their nether regions using the ancient art of genital origami”.

Whether it's breaking the ice on a first date, getting the girls out for an entertaining hens night or celebrating a divorce - the show is set to make jaws drop and leave tummies sore from laughter.

Although it's been performed in 35 countries and in six different languages, the boys are excited to hit Australia and show North Queensland what they've got.

Barry Brisco said he did his first show in Australia in 2003, and discovered Aussies, known for being laid back, were "really free about the whole 'Puppetry of the Penis' thing”.

He's keen to come back, with some new tricks up their sleeve called the Miley Cyrus, Yoda and the Kardashian, along with the old favourites including the Eiffel Tower, the Loch Ness Monster, the Pelican and of course, the iconic Hamburger - all projected onto a huge screen for the audience's close-up enjoyment.

Barry wanted to let the men know to "shave before you come to the theatre you may have to get your d--- out”. He said it's how he began in the unusual industry to start with.

"I volunteered to come on stage during one of the shows in their early stages during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the rest is history,” he laughed.

"Some guys are itching to do it... we always love to see new talent.”

For the ladies who are wondering, there is, in fact, "full frontal male nudity”.

"We come out, we have our robes on, we have maybe a bit of jewellery and sneakers and what God gave us. That's it,” he said. "We enjoy ourselves so much, but it's not an easy job.”

Barry said a lot of people "think all you have to do is get your d--- out on stage and that's it”.

"We're professional actors,” he said.

"To get on stage, do comedy, be consistent, be good, hold the audiences' attention, be nude, not get an erection and not let it shrink up and disappear all together... it takes a lot.”

When asked whether they're single, Barry joked "I'm single and you can put that in big black caps”.

However Rich is married to his college sweetheart, who is completely on board with his career and is actually their camera operator.

He encourages everyone to come along for a good time and a big laugh.

The show will be performed in Mackay, at the MECC on February 18.

Tickets are available on the MECC website.
