Prossie kindy kids get firefighting
CHILDREN from the Proserpine Public Kindergarten swapped finger-painting for fire hoses during an excursion to the newly opened headquarters of the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service on Tuesday.
About 20 four-year-old kids got a tour of the new station and tried their hand at putting out imaginary fires.
Teacher at the kindy, Amy Carlson said the kids got a real kick out of the outing and an ongoing connection between auxiliary firefighters and students made planning a piece of cake.
"They used the hose and got a demonstration on how the jaws of life were used with a bottle of water,” she said.
"They loved it.”
