President praises venue ball

PRESIDENT of the Queensland 8 Ball Federation Gregg Dingle was impressed with the facilities at the Yaralla Convention Centre.

He says there is every chance the Central QLD City versus Country tournament will return in 2017.

“The staff at the venue were terrific and the captains, players and managers were all great,” Dingle said.

“The days were long like from 8 in the morning to 10.30 at night so we are all exhausted.”

One of the many highlights was the quality of 8 ball, but Dingle said perhaps it was Saturday which would have had spectators talking.

“We had a singles match with the youngest player at just 14 who played against the oldest player,” Dingle added. “Joe McLintock at just 14 years of age and from Hervey Bay played against 81-year-old Terry Connor from Rockhampton.

Meanwhile several Gladstone players have made the Central QLD Zones teams that will compete in August.

Sandie Wright and Skye McGrath are off to Townsville in six week’s time while Chris Johnston will be a part of the CQ Masters team to play in Brisbane later in August.
