Positives to the new toll road
SO LET'S put all the arguments around taxes, rego etc aside and break it down.
If the road saves more than half an hour and 18 sets of traffic lights, will it save you money by using the bypass and paying the toll?
So let's make it simple.
That money pays for roughly 15 litres of fuel, give or take.
So for every litre over 15 litres that you save, you're saving about $1.30.
Are you going to save more than 15 litres? Of course you are.
So it will cost you less to do the run than it currently costs before you even add wages and wear and tear.
So by using the new road and paying the toll you actually make more money and make more miles because you have an extra half-hour of driving time each way.
So you can potentially do a 12-hour round trip in 11 hours.
Or maybe do an extra load if you're doing a couple each way a day.
