THE popular Fire on the River fireworks display will launch the Ipswich Festival tonight

A full and exciting first week of Ipswich Festival events starts with the Fire on the River fireworks display, Adrift and Creative Kidz Big Day Out - all to be held at Riverheart Parklands.

Executive chairman of Ipswich Events Corporation Paul Casos said the Ipswich Festival fireworks spectacular would light up the skies in an explosion of colour.

"There is a full and exciting week ahead of Ipswich Festival events (including) Creative Kidz Big Day Out and of course the official floating of Adrift," he said.

"Fire on the River is an enthralling display of fireworks all synchronised to music that adults and children alike will not want to miss.

"This spectacular pyrotechnic display has become a festival favourite with a stunning showcase of the very best feature fireworks."

"The best vantage points to view the show are Riverlink Shopping Centre and David Trumpy Bridge."

He said the unique Adrift would also be afloat.

"Adrift is a celebration of the Bremer River, a floating, sustainable light installation."
