ANALOG signals will be switched off across the region tomorrow, leaving some residents with poor television reception.

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Cedric Marshall acknowledged certain areas required more work.

"There are still black spots within the region where digital TV reception could be significantly improved," he said.

"The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) in conjunction with (the) council are working at the moment to improve coverage areas across our region and we ask residents in affected areas to remain patient.

"We are also working with ACMA to obtain the final licences for the Isaac region's coastal area.

"The current expectation is for this to be released in the second half of 2013."

Cr Marshall said the benefits of digital television were obvious.

In addition to the delivery of an extra five 'digital ready' television stations and SBS radio, the quality and reliability of reception of television and radio services would be significantly improved, he said.

Information on black spots and maps would soon be posted on the council's website, www.isaac.qld.gov.au, he said.
