How to avoid spending Christmas in the clink

POLICE are warning festive revellers alcohol-fuelled violence will not be tolerated.

Officers were called to three disturbances in the CBD precinct last night and this morning after receiving reports of brawlers in the Ruthven and Margaret St areas.

Police were called to three separate disturbances in the CBD area, including an assault at the corner of Ruthven and Margaret St about 2.30am, and an earlier altercation on Margaret St outside a licensed venue about 1.30am.

While investigations continue, police warn patrols will be maintained between Christmas and New Years, and violent brawls will not be tolerated.

"Behave yourself," a police spokeswoman said.

"You don't want to be in the watch house for Christmas awaiting a court appearance."
