WELCOME to 2016. We hope that everyone has had a wonderful break with family and friends and are ready for a big year.

Here at Sport Ipswich we are looking forward to working with all our sporting clubs and also keeping the wider community up to date on all things sport.

There are already plenty of sporting events and activities scheduled in Ipswich so why not check some of them out.

Baseball State Titles

Musketeers Sports Club will host the Baseball State Titles for both boys and girls this January. Why not take the family down for a look at some of the state's up and coming baseballers.

• When: January 21-24.
• Where: Tivoli Sporting Complex, 69 Church St, Tivoli.

Shootout Series

Ipswich BMX will host the second round of the Oxley Cycles Southern Zone Queensland Shootout Series.

BMX is a fast-paced sport that not a lot of people have seen live so get down and check it out.

• When: January 30.
• Where: Willey St BMX Track, 54 Moffatt Street, Ipswich.
• Time: Racing from 1.30pm.

Aussie champs

Ipswich Basketball is hosting a large scale event that combines both the U20 Nationals and the Ivor Burge Championships, which is a tournament for players with an intellectual disability.

Some great basketball will be seen at these championships.

• When: February 14-20.
• Where: Cotton On Foundation Ipswich Basketball Stadium, 2A Ross Llewellyn Drive, Booval.

Twilight Carnival

Little Athletics participants from around south-east Queensland will converge on the Ipswich Little Athletics site to compete in the annual Twilight Carnival. Kids aged from five to 16 will compete in events throughout the day. If you have a child who might be interested in joining a little athletics club take them down for a look to see how the sport is conducted.

• Where: Bill Patterson Oval, Corner of Salisbury Road & Lion Street, Ipswich.
