Video: Pint-sized pair can’t wait for talent quest
THEY'RE pint-sized but they pack a punch.
Talent quest entrants Aurora McBride and Annamonet Massey will perform at Gladstone Harbour Festival next Wednesday. Yesterday afternoon they had their first official stage run-through, but the two 11-year-olds were adamant they were cool, calm and collected.
"I'm excited with barely any nerves because we've performed to crowds before," Annamonet said.
"I've been performing for six years, so I'm fairly confident over our competition," Aurora said.
The dynamic duo have been friends for two years, playing parts alongside each other in Peter Pan and in the eisteddfod.
A childhood favourite will be their competition tune.
"We're performing 'I Just Can't Wait to be King' from the Lion King," Annamonet said.
"We've both seen it live and it's just a catchy, feel-good song."
The girls say they are 'two peas in a pod' and they couldn't have done it without the help of family and friends.
"Our singing teacher, Mrs Brooker, has been great and my grandma is whipping up our lion costumes," Aurora said.
When the two grow up they said they have ambitions of becoming a famous double act.
"We just want to have fun and a good experience and if we win that'll be awesome, but it's not everything - just the start."
