Bust a piñata for Mexican holiday

MONTEZUMA'S Mexican restaurant Coolangatta could bring a whole new meaning to the golden ticket for one lucky person.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory fans will note it of significance – the restaurant in conjunction with Cuervo Tequila is giving away a trip to Mexico tomorrow.

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a traditional Mexican festival, Cuervo have partnered with traditional Mexican restaurants nationally in a campaign that will see one lucky person smash open a pinata to reveal the golden ticket and a trip for two valued at $10,000.

Unlike the movie where children get to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, a pair of tequila-loving Australians will visit La Rojena, the Cuervo distillery located in Tequila, Mexico.

Restaurant owner Paul Ryan said he though it was a great opportunity for Mexico-lovers.

“We've got the blindfold, we've got the stick and the pinata is up and ready to go,” he said.

“People will have to work on their strategies though to decide if they want to get in there first and try to crack it down the middle or wait for people to soften it up a bit.”

Participants must be over 18 and must buy one of the brand's margaritas to be eligible.

For your chance to bust open the pinata visit Montezuma's Coolangatta, 87 Griffith Street, Coolangatta between 7pm and 9pm tomorrow.
