Pilley bows out after third round at World titles
SQUASH: Yamba squash star Cameron Pilley's journey at the AJ Bell World Championships came to an end yesterday as he was defeated by Egypt's World No.3 Ali Farag in round three at Manchester's National Squash Centre.
Yamba-born Pilley had enjoyed a good tournament defeating compatriot Ryan Cuskelly and Egypt's Karim Ali Fathi in earlier rounds.
But the heavy hitting Australian struggled to contain an on song Farag, as the Egyptian dispatched Pilley in straight-games by an 11-4, 11-4, 11-4 scoreline.
"I changed it up a couple of times, but he dealt with it really well,” Pilley said after the half-an-hour clash.
"It was just one of those games where you try a few different things, you change your position on court a little bit but he was just too sharp and there was nothing I could do today, he was just too good.”
Earlier in the week fellow Yamba squash player Donna Urquhart was dispatched by World No. 1 Nour El Sherbini in straight sets in the first round of the tournament.
Urquhart was no match for the Egyptian going down 11-8, 11-5, 11-3 in 24 minutes.
