PIETER Verhoeven has been truck driving for 18 years, and eight of those years here in Australia and the rest back in his homeland of New Zealand.
The first rig Pieter drove was a Mitsubishi Canter which was carting furniture up both north and south islands.
Pieter was driving for Conroy Removals back then.
These days Pieter steers a tidy looking Kenworth K108. Under the shed is a Cummins 620hp while it's rallied up by an 18-speed Road Ranger.
And yes it rides on airbag suspension with a drop deck B- double taut liner.
Pieter cruises doing Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, and occasionally zips over to good old Adelaide.
Pieter cracks the whip for O'Connor Haulage Pty Ltd. Pieter said the Kenworth is a good outfit, has plenty on tap horsepower, oh and of course the roads are fairly average, much the same as back in New Zealand. He has a hobby farm and found it was a great way to relax.
