Phil Luyten

FRIENDLY truckie Phil Luyten drives a Scania R560 for Quality Logistic Services of Brisbane.

When Big Rigs yarned to him just before noon on May 29, Phil was hauling white goods from Brisbane to North Queensland.

"I have washing machines, televisions and fridges for delivery to Tully, Innisfail and Cairns," he said.

Phil, who is of Dutch descent, said he hoped to pick up a backload of produce such as bananas for Brisbane or Sydney.

He enjoys stopping off at the Raglan Tavern near Rockhampton for a feed and shower.

"Lots of truckies recommended to me and I'll be going there when I am in the area," he said.

He enjoys fishing when he gets time off and has a 4.6m fibreglass dinghy powered by a 60hp outboard.

"I go to Moreton Bay and have caught sharks, flathead, bream and snapper."

A fulltime truckie for the past two years, Phil used to be a salesman selling woodwork equipment.
