Pay back for AFL viewers

FOXTEL will compensate viewers who lodged complaints with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission about the quality of some of its AFL broadcasts.

During the 2012 season, Fox Sports broadcast all nine AFL matches on its Fox Sports HD and Fox Sports 1 HD channels, promoting the coverage with terms such as "real HD", "brilliant", "stunning", and "best HD experience".

However, an investigation revealed just five of the weekly matches were filmed using high definition cameras.

The other four were filmed with standard definition cameras, the vision then upgraded to high definition.

That vision was of a lower picture quality and Foxtel has agreed to rewrite its marketing material.
