Pavlova reinvention trips up MasterChef favourite

EVER-smiling chef Akuc Isaac Chol farewelled MasterChef: The Professionals after failing tonight's reinvention challenge.

The professional chefs were asked to revamp the classic Aussie dessert pavlova.

While some triumphed, Akuc, Bonny and Coop found themselves in the bottom three.

Akuc even predicted her demise, saying: "It's a definite disaster. Me and desserts, we don't get along. It's a no-no."

While Akuc has impressed in previous challenges with her fragrant savoury dishes, her spicy roulade with kaffir lime leaf and cardamom missed the mark.

Co-host Marco Pierre White congratulated Akuc for cooking dishes and flavours inspired by her childhood.

"To come that far… I feel fantastic," she said.

"It's going to make my mum very proud."

MasterChef: The Professionals continues on Ten tomorrow at 7.30pm.
