Parent report for best behaviour
MY son handed me his report card this week.
Before you ask your children for their report cards, this was not a report card issued by his teacher.
This was a report card he was planning on giving me - about me.
There were five categories drawn up. Art, Mass, Spelling, Homework and BeHavya.
I had to query that last one.
Apparently it is about my behaviour.
Lucky I'm not doing the report card on him, because the spelling category would not be looking good.
Then again, he spelt the rest correctly, and I might need a few brownie points.
Especially considering his marking system only allowed for results of A+, A, B and F.
Oh, and B was for bad and F for fail.
It doesn't give me much scope for error.
While I contemplate my potential results, I think I might need to clarify some of the other categories on his list.
I'm not sure what Mass means, but if it is talking about the last time I went to church, I could be in real trouble.
The Homework one is a bit ambiguous too.
It could relate to how much help I give him with his homework.
It could also relate to how much I nag him to do his homework.
And I am not quite sure how well I am doing on the BeHavya side of things either.
This is not the first time I have been rated by my 9-year-old.
Thanks to MasterChef I have been getting scores out of 10 for my cooking efforts this past week too.
I'm proud to say I've had nothing below a six.
I've even had a few 10 out of 10s.
It seems all I need to do to get a perfect score is to buy an apple pie, heat it up and add ice-cream.
I might have to pass on those words of wisdom to MasterChef contestants.
They seem to be going to an awful lot of trouble, when it could be as simple as heading to the frozen section of Coles, rather than the fruit and veg aisles.
I'm not sure when I'll get my completed parenting report card, or even when it is being assessed, but I hope my son applies the same thoughts my parents did with my school reports.
The results don't matter, as long as I tried my best.
