Paget's Carpool Week was a huge success

ALMOST 15 Paget businesses and their staff registered to take part in Mackay Regional Council's Paget Carpool Week, which ran for a week and finished yesterday.

The challenge which was accepted with open arms, proved to be a great success with those carpooling expressing positive feedback including how easy it was to share a ride.

Roads and Infrastructure portfolio councillor Kevin Casey said he was pleased to hear that most of the participants planned to continue carpooling to and from work in the future.

One registered carpooler, Elle Smith from Hastings Deering, said there were a lot of positives to carpooling including saving money and the ability to find a car space.

"Where possible I will definitely continue to carpool to work. Additionally, I will also be carpooling with friends outside of work to events such as weekly sport commitments," she said.

Cr Casey congratulated the overall winning business, Precise Corporation, who had the greatest number of carpoolers registered in the competition.

Precise Corporation employee Danielle O'Brien said she had enjoyed the carpooling week and had even managed to incorporate some morning exercises with her colleague beforehand.
