Paget's Carpool Week is in full swing

TAKING part in Paget's Carpool Week, starting today, will not only save you money on fuel, you'll also have a chance to share in $2000 worth of prizes, according to Mackay Regional Council.

Roads and drainage portfolio councillor Kevin Casey has put the challenge to all businesses in the Paget industrial precinct to take part in the initiative - particularly those who have been affected by the roadworks.

"With hundreds of millions of dollars worth of road works currently under way around the region - $27 million of which are in full swing at Paget alone - carpooling is a great way to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in the area," he said.

"This initiative also aims to enhance road safety, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help people save money on fuel while reducing wear and tear on their vehicles."

To take part you can register online at www.mackay.qld.gov.au/carpool.

The more staff members a business registers, the more chances they'll have to win.

A total of $1500 worth of fuel vouchers and gift Wish cards will be up for grabs and the winning business will receive an outside HotFM radio broadcast at their premises on Friday May 31.
