Pacific Hwy closed as police investigate truck and car smash

NEW South Wales Police are currently on the scene of a serious crash on the Pacific Hwy.

About noon today police were called the Pacific Hwy at Tabbimoble, about 20km south of Woodburn, after reports of a crash.

A truck and motor vehicle had collided head on.

The male driver of the motor vehicle was trapped but has since been released.

He's been taken to Lismore Base Hospital via Westpac helicopter where he is believed to be in a serious condition.

Police from Richmond LAC and Ballina Crash Investigation Unit are on scene conducting inquiries.

The driver of the truck has been conveyed to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory Blood and Urine tests.

The Pacific Hwy is closed in both directions, and is expected to be closed for a number of hours.

Diversions are in place and motorists are urged to take alternate routes.
