STEP aside men, the women are taking over the world - and your TV screens.

Netflix has launched a new video designed to showcase the power of women - both in front of the camera - and behind the scenes.

The video shows scenes from shows as diverse as Glow featuring women 'doing it for themselves'.

"We have enormous power. Let's us it,'' the video's core message is.

In 2017, the power of the collective couldn't be more relevant.

The Women's Marches in January, the rise in female mentorship programs (as seen through Sheryl Sandberg's #LeanInTogether campaign) and exploration of more complex female relationships in show like Big Little Lies, the huge success of Wonder Women at the cinema, and more recently GLOW; these cultural moments are reflective of a broader transition of women moving their focus from "me" to "we".

Netflix says  it takes a strong group of women behind the camera, both creatively and at an executive level, to get a strong group of women on camera.
