This phone call was music to the ears of a musician from the region

IT WAS not something they were expecting but certainly news that was a welcome sound to the ears of former Proserpine lad HypermanTrice aka Trice Daniel and his partner in crime Deejay Lazerray, aka Aaron Miller.

On Thursday they got a call from Justice Crew's tour manager, asking if they could open for the chart topping sensation at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre that weekend.

Speaking at a community event in Proserpine on Saturday, Trice said the news was "pretty exciting".

"We pretty much got hit up on Thursday to do the opening act for the Justice Crew," he said.

Trice spent time growing up in Proserpine before moving away to Sydney and is now based back in north Queensland in Mackay.

With a long-time interest in the entertainment industry and as a Justice Crew fan, Trice felt the exposure he would receive was a great opportunity.

"I have been interested in the industry doing production and organising events is how I got into it, then I started branching off and doing music," he said.

"Then I ran into Aaron who is a DJ. We would play music pretty much in his bedroom and now we are on stage doing stuff, it's pretty awesome."

The duo has been pulling good crowds as resident MC and DJ at Mcguire's CBD Hotel in Mackay on Wednesday night.

"People must have just heard about us," he said.

One thing evidently led to another and on Saturday night they were sharing the stage with the hugely popular Justice Crew.

Trice and deejay Lazerray played to a packed house on Saturday and certainly won some new fans.
