Online push for Melbourne flights
THE CAMPAIGN to bring Melbourne flights to the Fraser Coast has received a boost from council's new-look website.
Council has made significant upgrades to its online presence, and front and centre on the revamped site is the registration link for residents to get onboard to help lure flights here.
Simply by clicking on the link on the website, residents can receive updates on the latest negotiations, notification of the first Melbourne flights and updates regarding Sydney flights and special offers for campaign supporters.
Mayor Gerard O'Connell encouraged residents to take a look at the new website and register for the Maybe Melbourne Flights Campaign.
"The more people register their interest, the more leverage we have to negotiate with airlines for more flight paths, such as Melbourne," he said.
"Aviation is a key component for the council."
Registration for the campaign also gives access to the Staycations program for Fraser Coast residents, which includes special deals and seasonal offers for a selection of Fraser Coast attractions, tours and businesses.
The long-awaited upgrade to the council website is designed to make it more user-friendly, with a search function allowing people to find the information they need much more easily.
To register for the flights campaign, go to frasercoast.qld.gov.au; under "have your say".
