Online poll finds majority in favour of death penalty

AFTER voting closed on our poll about whether the death penalty should be introduced in Australia, the outcome was 64% of people were in favour of the idea.

Almost 200 votes were cast and the majority sided with journalist and commentator Carlie Walker who said she wished we had the death penalty in Australia.

Journalist Roderick Makim holds the opposing view based on two words: wrongful conviction.

Their opinions sparked a debate earlier in the week when we asked readers to cast their vote in an online poll on the issue.
