THE legal representative for Oliver Bridgeman has confirmed that despite a social media blackout his client is alive and well in war-torn Syria.  

Alex Jones, of Bosscher Lawyers, said Bridgeman, who left Australia in 2015, still wished to return home despite not having direct contact with him for "quite a while".  

The Toowoomba man had been fairly active on social media while in Syria, posting videos of his living quarters and a near missile miss, but his recent silence over the past few months had left many wondering where he had gone.

Mr Bridegman had deactivated his Facebook account in July, but still keeps in regular contact with his family, according to his lawyer.  

Mr Jones was also unable to confirm Bridgeman's marital status after he changed it to ''married'' on Facebook in May, but was under the impression that his client was taking a break from social media.

"I was told he was coming off it for a bit. The last time I spoke to him he has always wanted to come back," Mr Jones said.  

Mr Bridgeman's passport was cancelled last year and an arrest warrant issued based on suspicions he committed incursions into foreign countries with the intention of engaging in hostile activities.
