Ocean catch hauls in tourists
HERVEY Bay's bright blue ocean continues to pull in the tourists as two water-bound activities have been chosen as some of the best tourism experiences in the country.
Whale watching in Hervey Bay is among the top ten tourism adventures for the 1.3 million customers that travel on Greyhound buses each year, while boat fishing was in the top five adventure trips chosen by Explore Australia.
Greyhound Australia released the top 10 list this week with Hervey Bay sweeping in at number eight, beating a camel ride at Broome at number 10 and the Gold Coast theme parks at number 9.
"Travel adventures aren't all about extreme events," Greyhound Australia general manager Gagan Singh said.
"We think everyone should take a break and try each adventure at least once in their life."
Snorkelling with turtles on the Great Barrier Reef came in at number one on the list.
Explore Australia, which produces travel guides, atlases and maps each year, chose boat fishing in Hervey Bay as number five in its list of the best adventure trips in Australia.
Fishing Author and angler Steve Cooper recommended Hervey Bay for its giant trevally, longtails and mackerel tuna and marlin.
