Obesity a growing problem in Central Queensland

ROCKHAMPTON may have a large number of gyms for those looking to get fitter, but it also has a worrying amount of fast-food outlets making people fatter.

There are 33 fast food outlets in the Rockhampton region, representing one for every 2502 people.

According to the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, CQ's obesity rate is 28% higher than the state average.

As of December 2014, one in three Central Queensland adults was obese.

We are ranked among the worst areas in Queensland for cardiovascular deaths.
