Nothing stone cold about Ellen's performance on The Voice
THE voting public is behind Caboolture's Ellen Reed.
The Queensland songstress was declared safe tonight on The Voice before taking to the stage for her second live performance on the reality singing show.
The 27-year-old and her coach Jessie J made a last-minute change to her song this week after deciding in rehearsals that Jessie's original song choice, Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman, wasn't right.
After extensive deliberations they settled on Demi Lovato's ballad Stone Cold, which Ms Reed said she was initially terrified of singing.
"That was really beautiful," Ronan Keating said.
"Talking about composure - it's just standing there and delivering. That's such a difficult thing to do and you had the room and I'm sure Australia is captivated as well."
Her coach Jessie J applauded her for building to an emotional finish to the song.
"When you got 30 seconds into the end, that's where you needed to be in the beginning," she said.
"That freedom you got to in the end and you were like I don't care… it was emotionally driven. The first 30 seconds wasn't there; that's what we're doing to work on. All of these things come to the surface and life is all about fine tuning and improving."
