Not happy rest area is closed
NEWS of the closure of a popular rest area at Ballina has left truckies fuming.
Christopher Stokes said it left a lot of trucks displaced every night, with nothing around that compared in terms of space and distance from the road noise.
"Further proof that they don't really care about fatigue management other than what revenue they can get from it,” he said.
Scott Wightman said Wardell and Tyagarah might well be suitable rest areas, however they were "traditionally full of camper vans and caravans and can only fit maybe five or six B-doubles in each and they are close to the highway noise, that's why West Ballina was the rest area of choice for most, plenty of space and very quiet”.
