Not about safety, it's raising their revenue

HEAVY vehicle operators and the broader road transport industry can expect improved targeting of compliance activities by law enforcement agencies as they operate across state borders.

Drivers weren't impressed.

Greg Friery said "when it comes down to it the authorities don't care about our safety they are only interested in collecting revenue to make their jobs viable if it was about safety they would be cracking down on the real problems but that doesn't win votes”.

Stuart Birchall said he had no problem with people that were doing the wrong thing copping "justifiable” fines, but if anyone "thinks that the various state gumbyments are going to forgo the revenue that they currently screw drivers for they are very wrong”.

Steve Cumberland said "unless it's more money then they will like it... truckies to suffer again”.
