No change likely in Divisions 1 and 2

MORE than half of the votes have been counted in Division One and there's only one name most people want to see at the council table representing them.

Incumbent councillor Rick Baberowski said he hadn't fully absorbed the result - almost 65% of the votes heading his way - with more than 52% of votes counted last night.

"It's just really fantastic," Cr Baberowski said.

"I'm really incredibly grateful that obviously the community did notice (the work he'd done in the past four years).

"It's a nice level of support."

With a number of significant projects in the division and some questions over the impact Caloundra South would have on some of the nearby hinterland towns it was unclear quite how strong Cr Baberowski's mandate would be.

That was answered quickly last night.

"I would hope it's (level of support) because of the things happening in the division that they're supporting me," he said.

"I never really doubt that I can't get my share (for the division).

"We have such an incredibly good hinterland."

Meanwhile long-time Division Two councillor Tim Dwyer looks in an unassailable position, as voters yet again made it clear they were confident in and comfortable with the experienced, down-the-line representative.

He enjoyed more than 71% of the votes against Matt McIntyre with 43% of the votes counted overnight.
