New riverfront venue to bring 40 jobs to Rockhampton

A NEW river front venue, Boathouse, is set to bring 40 jobs to Rockhampton ahead of its opening in Easter.

Headricks Lane owners Benito Zussino and Peter Hawkins have already sought out interest for positions for their new hospitality venture.

There are currently online advertisements for "passionate and motivated chefs, cooks, cafe and bar staff" for the family-friendly bar and restaurant.

The venue is currently under construction under the partnership of Rockhampton Regional Council, Urbis and Woolam Constructions.

"Boathouse will be something new for Rockhampton," Mr Hawkins said at the riverfront site.

"Boathouse and the Riverbank Precinct will combine to invite diners, tourists and families into our CBD offering a world class facility for the region.

"Kilometres of pathways connect parklands, playgrounds and waterpark, all right here in the CBD.

"Boathouse will be a fun and vibrant space that compliments the precinct - a casual, relaxed atmosphere offering fresh seafood on the water."

"Boathouse will be a casual dining destination offering a great vantage point to the parklands below."

Take away fish and chips, grab and go breakfast options will also be available to the time-poor customers.

In the afternoon, the venue will transform into an "idyllic dining and drinking destination" where diners can enjoy a glass of bubbly overlooking the river.

The picturesque location on the waterfront with enviable lighting and "a beautiful combination of timbers and steel" will also be available for prospective wedding and event planners.

"Boathouse is excited to play a significant role in helping Rockhampton Regional Council further activate the precinct through events like Pop Up Polo, Beef Australia 2018, River Festival, Easter celebrations and Food & Wine events," Mr Hawkins said.

The venue will operate seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The venue is part of Rockhampton Regional Council's $36 million Riverbank Revitalisation project.
