New owners plan swish cocktail lounge for The Office
THE masterminds behind Walton Stores restaurants Hello Harry, Junk and 2Birds will expand their successful business model to their new site The Office.
Worldwide Hospitality Group directors Scott Hoskins and Tony Kelly have revealed extraordinary plans to turn the bar's upstairs function room into a cocktail lounge called The Chelsea Wine Bar.
Set to open early next year, the directors originally planned to open the speakeasy bar at Walton Stores but agreed the The Office space was a perfect fit.
Mr Hoskins said they bought the business to build on what the bar already offered.
"We plan to have three distinct areas at The Office; with the lane way, we want to theme it throughout the year and potentially have a mobile bar offering," he said.
"Upstairs will be a real cocktail, speakeasy kind of offering with gins, whisky and that sort of thing. The downstairs will have that continued focus on live music."
The directors launched a new menu yesterday that shares the same philosophy of their other restaurants - with most meals under $20 that can be served in 10 to 15 minutes.
However, Mr Kelly said the food still played on the "cool place for young people" vibe.
The directors will also introduce live music seven nights a week and the venue will eventually host open-mic sessions.
They did suggest that while their initial plans for a bar at Walton Stores had been canned, another bar could open, run by a different tenant.
