STRONG interest has promoted Mitsubishi Australia to release the prices for its new Mirage small car ahead of its release in January.
The pint-sizer will start from $12,990 for the entry-level manual, while the range topper will be the LS with a continuously variable transmission.
"As you can see, starting at $12,990 the all-new Mirage is great value for money, offering lively performance and a brand new stylish design and is already appealing to customers ahead of its arrival," Mitsubishi Australia's CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri said.
"In the first two weeks of our 'Win a Mirage' Facebook pre-sale campaign, we have had over 3500 entries and a high level of 'registrations of interest' through our website and in dealerships. The Mirage is impressive because it balances high performance and functionality with fuel efficiency in a compact, yet spacious, package that is fun to drive and at $12,990 is very affordable."
Mitsubishi claims the Mirage achieves best in class fuel economy of 4.6 litres/100kms (ES model) with the LS model returning 4.8L/100km with manual transmission and 4.9L/100km in the CVT. Official figures have the Mirage's CO2 emissions at 109g/km in the ES with the LS five-speed manual not far behind with 113g/km and 115g/km in the LS CVT.
The ES model features a plain knit black seat fabric embossed with a polka-dot pattern. The LS model uses a soft, waffle-weave seat fabric in black and purple. Black and ivory two-tone dash and door trims are in both models.
Mirage ES comes standard with CD player, two speakers, USB and AUX input and Bluetooth 2.0 with audio streaming. The three-spoke leather steering wheel features phone and audio controls.
In the Mirage LS, convenience is improved with the addition of dusk-sensing headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and Keyless Operating System with one-touch start. Driver and passenger comfort is boosted with climate-control air-conditioning while the audio system receives two additional speakers.
Safety will include six SRS airbags; driver and front passenger, side and curtain. Anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution will also be standard, along with stability control.
The Mirage is powered by a 1.2-litre all-new Smart MIVEC engine, which produces maximum output of 57kW at 6000rpm and generates maximum torque of 100Nm at 4000rpm.
